Canciones para mirar (2024) is a journey through an eclectic musical landscape and an exploration of identity, memory, and the family archive, expressed through photography. Grounded in a compilation of sound material from different eras, the work forges connections between images tied to memories of songs, translating them into photographs and presenting them as autonomous fragments that engage in dialogue within a suggested yet unfinished narrative, one left open to the viewer’s interpretation.

The project comprises a series of 34 photographs, each inspired by the memory of a particular song. Together, the images form an experimental constellation, incorporating theatrical elements, such as set design, costumes, and special effects, to evoke the visual universe of each piece.

Beginning with the portrait of a liminal place in memory, this immersive process of recovering and staging music-linked memories proposes an alternative way of seeing. It is a gaze that reimagines songs once meant to be heard, transforming them into visual compositions in a poetic sense. At the same time, it is a gaze shaped by the nostalgia of remembrance and the artifice of fiction, translated into photographic form in the most literal way.
