Matias Salinas (Argentina, 1989)
With photography as a point of departure, my artistic practice takes an interdisciplinary approach, fusing different media such as video, painting, and installation with elements of theatre and scenography. The resulting body of work centers around themes of illusion, memory and identity, exploring the theatricality of reality through constructed narratives. The complexities of these subjects are reflected in both the process and fragmentation of the artworks, often carrying dreamy and lyrical undertones that make the narratives both alluring and ambivalent.
The backbone of much of what I do lies in theatre. As much a spectator as a creator, my work is based on an intensive visual examination and deconstruction of themes rooted in my own life experience, as well as the cultural and social issues that concern me most. By creating evocative and imaginary landscapes, I introduce the viewer to scenes where the real and the fictional, the physical and the allegorical, coexist with the present and the past.
Publishing, the physicality of images and printed matter are an important part of my practice, whether through publications produced from my own work, independent projects, or by studying the book form in the context of artistic research.

Med fotografi som utgångspunkt tar min konstnärliga praktik ett tvärdisciplinärt förhållningssätt, som förenar olika medier såsom video, måleri och installation med element från teater och scenografi. Det resulterande konstnärliga arbetet kretsar kring teman som illusion, minne och identitet, samt utforskar verklighetens teatralitet genom konstruerade berättelser. Komplexiteten i dessa ämnen återspeglas både i processen och i konstverkens fragmentering, som ofta bär drömska och lyriska undertoner som gör berättelserna både lockande och tvetydiga.
Ryggraden i mycket av det jag gör ligger i teatern. Lika mycket åskådare som skapare, är mitt arbete baserat på en intensiv visuell undersökning och dekonstruktion av teman med rötter i min egen livserfarenhet, liksom de kulturella och sociala frågor som berör mig mest. Genom att skapa stämningsfulla och imaginära landskap introducerar jag åskådaren till scener där det verkliga och det fiktiva, det fysiska och det allegoriska, samexisterar med nuet och det förflutna.
Publicering, bildens fysiska karaktär och trycksaker är en viktig del av min praktik, vare sig genom publikationer producerade utifrån mitt eget arbete, självständiga projekt eller genom att studera bokformen inom ramen för konstnärlig forskning.

Con la fotografía como punto de partida, mi práctica artística toma un enfoque interdisciplinario, fusionando diferentes medios como el vídeo, la pintura y la instalación con elementos del teatro y la escenografía. El cuerpo de obra resultante gira en torno a temas como la ilusión, la memoria y la identidad, explorando la teatralidad de la realidad a través de narrativas construidas. La complejidad de estos temas se refleja tanto en el proceso como en la fragmentación de las obras, que a menudo contienen matices oníricos y líricos que hacen que las narrativas sean a la vez cautivantes y ambivalentes.
La columna vertebral de gran parte de lo que hago reside en el teatro. Tanto espectador como creador, mi trabajo se basa en una deconstrucción y examinación visual intensiva de temas arraigados en mi propia experiencia vital, así como en las cuestiones culturales y sociales que más me preocupan. Al crear paisajes evocadores e imaginarios, introduzco al espectador en escenas donde lo real y lo ficticio, lo físico y lo alegórico, coexisten con el presente y el pasado.
La publicación, la fisicalidad de las imágenes y el material impreso son una parte importante de mi práctica, ya sea a través de publicaciones producidas a partir de mi propio trabajo, proyectos independientes o mediante el estudio de la forma libro en el contexto de la investigación artística.
